Julie Walters, a brilliant linguist with a Ph.D. in Ancient Languages, is on the verge of achieving her dream of working at the Museum of Natural History. However, when funding is pulled from her department, she must find alternative means to support her education. She decides to offer private language lessons, which leads her to a new student, Dan Williams, an assistant curator at the museum. As Julie helps Dan improve his French for his long-distance relationship with Cosette, a Parisienne, she also coaches him on how to be more romantic. As they grow closer, their future is threatened by Cosette and Julie's own goal of working at the museum.
