Wilson Joel is struggling to cope with the sudden and inexplicable suicide of his wife. Despite his mother-in-law's efforts to support him, he finds little comfort in their relationship. His employer and coworker try to help, but nothing seems to ease his pain. In his desperation, Wilson turns to unusual means of coping, including inhaling fumes from gasoline cans and model airplane fuel. He finds temporary solace among remote-control model enthusiasts, but nothing provides lasting relief.
