A contest-obsessed housewife, Emma Foster, is a finalist in the Mrs. America contest, much to the dismay of her husband Otis, a barber. The irony is that Emma is not a homemaker and leaves all household chores to Otis. At the national finals in Atlantic City, Emma must find ways to get Otis to complete tasks required of the finalists, while also competing against other finalists and their exasperated husbands. Meanwhile, their daughter Louise catches the eye of Steve Walton, Happy Noodle's regional representative.
