Los Angeles Police Department's cold case unit reopened files on 1980s unsolved murders, only to discover a new victim 14 years later. DNA evidence led to Lonnie David Franklin Jr., aka "The Grim Sleeper," responsible for at least 10 murders and 1 attempted murder in LA from 1985 to 2007. He was found guilty, received the death penalty, and died of natural causes in San Quentin State Prison on March 28, 2020.
