Legendary jazz pianist Thelonious Monk and his musicians embarked on a 1968 tour, documenting their performances and recording sessions on film as they traveled between New York, Atlanta, and European cities, including a stint at the iconic Village Vanguard.

Thelonious Monk and his quartet, featuring Charlie Rouse, Larry Gales, and Ben Riley, toured Europe and the US in 1968, performing at the Village Vanguard and recording for Columbia Records. They also appeared at a Jazz Festival in Atlanta and joined George Wein's Newport Jazz Festival road company on their European tour, which included Ray Copeland, Clark Terry, Phil Woods, and Johnny Griffin.
