Three extraterrestrial friends accidentally sever a part of their companion, Bernard, after a prank goes awry. As they continue to play Space Ball, two of the aliens start experimenting with the ship's controls, ultimately disconnecting Bernard's section, leaving him stranded. Meanwhile, they crash-land on a massive blue planet, unaware of the chaos that has unfolded.
