Night Spot background

Night Spot

A talented singer finds herself in a precarious situation when she performs at a nightclub where two musicians are secretly undercover police officers, suspecting that the club is a front for a notorious criminal organization.

Marge Dexter, a young woman tired of her insurance office job, dreams of a singing career. She lands an interview at the Royal Beach Club, where she witnesses the owner, Marty Davis, being attacked by a rival gangster. Despite being arrested for the murder, Davis's alibi is proven by Marge, and he offers her a chance to sing in his club, with "Gashouse" as her bodyguard. Meanwhile, Police Inspector Wayland is skeptical of Davis's innocence and assigns two officers to work at the club, where they keep an eye on things while also performing in the orchestra. One of the officers, Pete Cooper, has a romantic interest in Marge.
