The movie follows Vishwam, the youngest brother of a powerful Zamindar, who is deeply influenced by his family's wealth and status. Married to Rukmani, Vishwam is a responsible and law-abiding individual. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when the village gets a new schoolmaster, who has a wife, Susheela. Vishwam becomes infatuated with Susheela, but she does not return his affections. The Zamindar's men then abduct Susheela, and the schoolmaster's efforts to rescue her are unsuccessful.
