A group of homesteaders settles in a valley, unaware that Nate Carson, a greedy prospector, plans to drive them out to claim the gold he believes lies beneath the land. However, the homesteaders' mining engineer, John Thorn, discovers Carson's scheme and decides to thwart his former boss's plans.
