On a fateful night at a desert motor court, the lives of multiple individuals intersect and unravel in unexpected ways. A family, seeking refuge from a scandal, finds its past catching up with it at the roadside cafe/motel. Meanwhile, a woman working there confronts her own troubled history, which is intertwined with the scandal. Two other arrivals, connected by their own complicated past, become entangled in the unfolding drama. As the night wears on, the characters' secrets and mistakes are revealed, leading to a climactic resolution of their collective struggles.
