Raja Babu, a poor orphan, is adopted by a wealthy couple and grows up as a country bumpkin, good-hearted but lacking urban manners. He falls in love with Madhu, a well-educated woman, after seeing her photo and impresses her with his appearance and talk. However, she rejects him when she learns he's not her match, causing humiliation for his father. The movie takes several twists before ending with a typical Bollywood happy ending, featuring a reunited family and a hero who gets his girl.
