In London, Carol, a Belgian immigrant, shares an apartment with her sister Helen and works as a manicurist. Carol is a sensitive and reserved person who often walks around in a daze, rarely speaking up. When she does speak, it's usually about her obsessive issues, such as personal space and men. She's troubled by Helen's boyfriend Michael's invasion of their apartment and is agitated by hearing Helen and Michael's lovemaking.
