Rosa Luxemburg background

Rosa Luxemburg

In the early 20th century, Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht, and Leo Jogiches collaborated to establish the Spartacist Party, a groundbreaking German political movement born from a decade of fervent activism.

In 1916, Rosa Luxemburg faces a mock execution at Wronke Prison, 20 years after her early struggles for democratic government in Germany and revolution in Poland. Despite her gifts, her political activity creates tension in her relationship with Leo Jogiches, as they work together for their shared cause. As international tensions rise, Rosa's speeches denouncing war and militarism make her seem too radical to her fellow Socialists. It is here that she meets Karl Liebknecht, with whom she unites in opposition to World War I.
