In Beijing, Andy Lau's character, Mr. Wu, is kidnapped by four disguised police officers, including Zhang Hua, who demand a 3 million RMB ransom. With only 20 hours to spare, Chinese detectives, led by Chief Xing, form a task force to track them down. As the deadline looms, the captors and police engage in a tense showdown.
