Fictionalized account of abolitionist John Brown and his six sons fighting to make Kansas a slave-free state. Brown believes he's doing God's work and is willing to use force to achieve his goals. He faces off against Martin White, who leads a raid on Lawrence, burning it down. Brown kills five raiders, but some of his sons disagree and leave. After Kansas, Brown continues his quest to end slavery, ultimately leading to his conviction and hanging for treason after the Harpers Ferry armory raid.
