Pat Jackson, a former Navy officer, is hired by Li Po Chang to command a gunboat up the river in the 1920s. As he departs, he leaves Wildeth at a mission for her safety. However, upon his return, he finds the mission under attack by communists, and must defend it to potentially regain his Navy commission and marry Wildeth.
