Eddie Kehoe, a vaudeville performer, clings to a sense of superiority, attributing his lack of success to others while convinced of his own exceptional talents.

Eddie Kehoe, a young vaudeville performer, blames everyone but himself for his lack of success. He claims to be great, but rarely shows it. Kitty Mayo, an experienced burlesque queen, suggests he get a partner to take his solo act to the next level. He finds Rita Carey, a dancer with a trained duck, and convinces her to join him, naming their act "Eddie Kehoe and Partner". Despite his arrogance, Rita and others in the troupe develop a liking for him, including Cleo, a gold-digger with her sights set on him.
