Scotty, a teenage punk poet, moves to the Canadian Midwest in 1993 and struggles to fit in. He connects with outcasts The Skids, including Billy and Craig, who share his experiences of parental abuse and neglect. Scotty also catches the eye of Molly, the popular valedictorian, who has her own demons. When Sammy, the school's drug dealer, feels rebuffed by Scotty, he takes out his anger on Craig, sparking a path of rebellion against authority figures and their secrets.
