Col. Stockton, a tough-as-nails commander, recruits Stag Cahill, a former officer, to be his aide at a prestigious academy training young pilots for post-war cargo flights. However, tensions rise when Stockton's son, Kenneth, joins the program, and the colonel's initial disapproval of his son's performance leads to a rivalry between Stag and Ken, which is further complicated by their shared interest in the same woman.
