A former concertmaster of the Cosmopolitian Orchestra, Adolph Greig, faces a life-altering accident that leaves him unable to use his right hand, forcing him to abandon his soloist ambitions. His children abandon him, and he becomes a street beggar, too proud to ask for help. After being rescued by two orchestra associates, Mancini and Rozzini, Greig finds a new purpose giving violin lessons to a young prodigy, Carl Rupert. However, his son's success is threatened when his long-lost mother reappears.
