American soldier Harry Cook is sent to Norway to aid in the defection of a scientist working on the atomic bomb for the Germans during World War II. They're captured and sent to a POW prison camp in a high alpine castle, where Cook must escape with the scientist before the Gestapo discovers the Norwegian's true identity. Cook convinces fellow prisoners to build a two-person glider to fly to Switzerland, racing against time to complete the project before the German guards and Gestapo catch up with them.
