Amitabha Roy, a screenwriter from Calcutta, gets stranded in a small town in north Bengal while traveling to visit his brother-in-law and conduct research for his next film. He is taken in by a local tea plantation owner, Bimal Gupta, who offers him a place to stay for the night. Unbeknownst to Ami, Bimal's wife, Karuna, is his long-lost love, whom he had broken up with years ago due to his inability to commit to marriage. As the night unfolds, Ami's feelings for Karuna resurface, and he hopes to rekindle their romance. However, their reconciliation depends on whether Karuna still has feelings for Ami and whether she is happy in her marriage to Bimal.
