During World War II, an American O.S.S. agent disguises himself as a Frenchman and joins the Maquis resistance to help a notorious Nazi general escape to London. The general, responsible for brutal war crimes, including the murder of the agent's fiancée, offers to provide vital information to the Allies in exchange for his freedom.
