Lt. Commander Finchhaven, a ghost from the First World War, is doomed to sail the seas until he can redeem his past mistakes. During World War II, he encounters a group of American sailors who agree to help him repair his ship in exchange for passage to Australia. They encounter Jennifer Winslow, who joins their crew in search of a new life. As they set sail, Finchhaven's ghostly nature is revealed, and with the help of Lt. Krim and Jennifer, they sink a Japanese cruiser.
