Milo Terkel's life is turned upside down when he inherits a talking dog named Joe from a late owner. Joe's advice, though well-intentioned, often leads to chaotic and disastrous consequences for Milo. At home, Joe's guidance convinces Milo to assert himself, causing his wife, daughter, and brother-in-law to leave. Milo then meets Gorgeous Gilmore, Louie's girlfriend, and becomes embroiled in a series of misadventures as Joe tries to fix their situation. With the family and Belmonts returning, and Louie dropping by, Milo must navigate the mayhem and decide whether Gorgeous can stay hidden from view.
