In the early 19th century, the Mission Guadalupe in Santa Fe is attacked by unknown renegades, stealing priceless treasures. The colonists vow revenge on the Hawk and his men, but no one can identify him. The Hawk is called "The Phantom of Santa Fe." An American, Steve Gant, offers a reward for the Hawk's capture, dead or alive. Meanwhile, Miguel Morago is mistaken for the Hawk, and a cantina girl named Lola tries to use her charms to get the reward and force Gant to marry her. As tensions rise, Miguel and his men attack a wagon train belonging to Gant, taking prisoners and spreading out in retreat.
