The House of the Arrow background

The House of the Arrow

A wealthy widow's life is brutally cut short by a murderer, Louise Hampton, who may have prolonged her death if not for a crucial detail discovered in a book from her library, a common resource for invalids to manage their health.

Wealthy widow Mme. Harlowe's murder is solved by Paris detective Inspector Hanaud, who uncovers a web of deceit and false information. The killer's reliance on a book's incorrect claim about the native poison surare leads to their downfall. With the help of a charred paper, anonymous letters, and a cleverly disguised pen-holder, Hanaud builds a case against the guilty party, putting the life of the suspected niece, Betty Harlowe, at risk to extract a confession.
