Mitzi Bearclaw, a young woman of First Nations heritage, reluctantly returns to her reserve on Owl Island to care for her ailing mother, Annabelle, at her father's request. However, upon arrival, she discovers her mother is not as sick as she thought, and instead, she's forced to confront her past and the harsh realities of life on the island.
