A monarch of 18 years decides to abdicate for a simpler life. He was previously married to a young woman, whom he divorced to become king. He meets her again in France, only to find she still lives in opulent splendor, unlike his own simple desires. He returns to his current wife, who turns out to be faithful, and they will spend the rest of their lives together.
