Universal's 16th sound-era serial, based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short story, follows a special train carrying gold bullion from the Golconda Mine. The train is stopped by henchmen working for Sam Slater and Potter Hood, who steal the gold and leave a mystery behind. The son of Potter Hood, Tom Hood, and his friend Bob Collins team up to solve the mystery, aided by a newspaper reporter and her friend. Their investigation leads to a thrilling chase, which continues in the next chapter.
