The Love Light

A poignant tale of love and loss, a young Italian woman's life is forever changed when she discovers her brothers did not survive World War II, and she finds solace in an unexpected romance with a wounded American sailor who washes up on the coast.

In an Italian fishing village during World War I, Angela tends a lighthouse while her brothers fight at the front. She finds a wounded sailor who claims to be American, and they fall in love, secretly marrying. However, he's revealed to be a German spy, leading to her brother's death. The spy jumps to his death, and Angela gives birth to a child. When her lover returns blind from the war, she becomes temporarily deranged and is reunited with her child after the nuns give it to another woman, Maria.
