The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat

A celebrated opera singer and professor, Dr. P, is beset by a mysterious condition that heightens his awareness of minute details while simultaneously eroding his ability to comprehend the bigger picture.

Dr. P, a baritone opera singer, suffers from visual agnosia, specifically prosopagnosia, which makes it difficult for him to recognize people by their faces. He can only identify objects by smell or other means. Dr. S, a neurologist, examines him in a clinic and at home, and tries to understand how he and his wife cope with his condition. The film is a unique blend of opera, documentary, and drama, featuring Dr. S's reflections on his encounters with Dr. P and footage of a pathologist examining Dr. P's brain to diagnose his condition, which is later revealed to be a rare symptom of Alzheimer's disease.
