In the city of Los Angeles, a salesman named E.V. 'Marsh' Marshall has an affair with his boss's wife, Pauline Nevins, who is unhappy in her marriage to wealthy real-estate developer Ralph Nevins. Marsh wants to elope with Pauline, but she's hesitant to leave her life of luxury. They overhear a plan to steal jewels from a nearby mansion and concoct a scheme to ambush the thieves and steal the loot, which would provide them with the means to escape.
