The Star Maker

The movie tells the inspiring tale of Gus Edwards, a skilled composer, performer, and producer who left a lasting legacy in vaudeville.

A penniless songwriter convinces an orphanage assistant to marry him, and despite their struggles, they remain in love. He finds success by organizing a group of newsboys into a vaudeville act, and they become a hit. The songwriter and his agent launch a talent train to discover new performers, and they find a talented 14-year-old girl with an amazing voice. He builds a musical revue around her, but the show is shut down by a society that protects working children, threatening the songwriter's future.
