A former gunman is hired by small ranchers to protect them from a wealthy rancher who seeks to take their land. Unbeknownst to them, the gunman had previously killed the rancher in self-defense. He falls in love with the rancher's widow, but is unable to be with her due to the circumstances of the rancher's death.
