In 1939, as war looms over Warsaw, the zoo's owners Jan and Antonina Zabinski face an uncertain future. Despite the escalating tensions, they continue their daily routine until the Luftwaffe's attacks destroy the city. With the zoo being liquidated for the war effort, the couple turns it into a sanctuary, hiding over 300 Jewish people in plain sight from the Nazi enemy.
