In the dunes near Timbuktu, a peaceful cattle herder, Kidane, lives with his family, including his young shepherd son, Issan. The city is under the oppressive regime of Jihadists who have banned music, laughter, and other aspects of life. Despite the chaos, the women in the city resist with dignity. Kidane's family is initially spared, but their fate takes a dramatic turn.
