As a teenager struggles with the pressures of home and school, he becomes entangled in a destructive cycle of heroin addiction, courtesy of a charismatic and free-spirited woman named Molly.
Max Hanson, a talented artist, is torn between his passion for art and his love for ice hockey. As his mother pushes him to focus on his artistic career, he becomes overwhelmed and finds solace in a toxic relationship with heroin, introduced to him by his classmate Molly.
