A film adaptation of Henry James' Victorian ghost story, set in modern-day Wellington, unfolds over the course of an evening in a theatre. Julia takes the stage as a last-minute replacement, playing a role in a 1890-set play, "The Turn of the Screw". As she rehearses, Julia becomes convinced that not only is the fictional house haunted, but also the theatre itself.
