In 1967 Buenos Aires, eight-year-old Valentín lives with his poor widowed grandmother, longing to see his mother who left when he was three. His father, a traveling salesman, is absent and prioritizes his own success over his family's well-being. Valentín dreams of becoming an astronaut, building rocket models and space suits, and even simulating zero gravity to achieve his goal. Despite his physical limitations, he believes he can overcome them. Valentín also yearns for a traditional family with his father at home and a new mother, like his father's latest girlfriend, Leticia. He seeks male influences, including his Uncle Chiche and Rufo, the bohemian pianist next door. As Valentín navigates his challenges, he comes to new understandings, reconciling past and present experiences.
