A teenage girl, desperate to pursue her spiritual education, adopts a male persona to gain acceptance into a revered institution, while concealing her true identity and grappling with the moral implications of her deception.

In 1904 Eastern Europe, a Jewish woman named Yentl yearns for knowledge but is forbidden from learning due to her religion's strictures. After her father's passing, she disguises herself as a man to attend a Jewish religious school and satisfy her thirst for knowledge.
