Two old friends, a retired composer and conductor, and a still-working movie director, reunite on vacation in a luxurious hotel at the foot of the Alps. As they reminisce about their children's struggles and the lives of the hotel's eclectic guests, the director frantically works on his final big project while the composer has no intention of returning to his craft. However, someone is determined to get him back behind the baton.
