In 1878, a group of land surveyors is brutally attacked and massacred by renegade Apache led by Chief Diablito, who also abducts Mary Carlyle, the daughter of General Carlyle. Major Breverly sends a scout to find Ward Kinsman, a prospector and Indian guide, to help rescue Mary. Kinsman is initially reluctant but changes his mind when he falls for Mary's sister, Ann Duverall, who's engaged to Captain Ben Lorrison. As the scouting party captures Apache prisoners and learns Mary's location, the officers plan an expedition to surround and capture Diablito's band, hoping to prevent their escape into Mexico.

A seasoned prospector and Indian scout team up with the US Cavalry to rescue Mary Carlyle, the general's daughter, who has been kidnapped by Apaches.
