American Masters background

American Masters

The film explores the life of John Lennon's family as they thrive amidst the dynamic and sometimes chaotic atmosphere of 1970s New York City.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono's lives were already renowned before their union, with Lennon as a Beatle and Ono as an avant-garde artist. However, their partnership was met with criticism, particularly from the British press, who accused Ono of corrupting Lennon. The couple faced criticism, shunned by fans, and eventually moved to New York City to escape the negativity. Despite facing new challenges, including criticism of their creative work, government threats, substance abuse, and marital issues, they ultimately overcame many of these problems.
