Beggars in Ermine background

Beggars in Ermine

A crippled industrialist rallies a group of homeless individuals to help him reclaim his factory from sabotage.

John Dawson, a steel-mill owner, suffers a devastating accident at the hands of his corrupt secretary/treasurer, Jim Marley, losing both his legs and his company. He finds a new purpose in life after meeting a blind peddler, Marchant, and sets out on a journey across the country, adopting a new identity. Along the way, he unites beggars, peddlers, and the disabled into a thriving organization with a unique system of dues-paying members.
