Eduardo Plarr, a half-English/half-Paraguayan doctor, returns to Corrientes, Argentina, to work, rekindling friendships and forming new ones, including a passionate affair with a former high-class prostitute. However, his relationships become complicated when he's asked to help rebels kidnap the US ambassador, whose kidnapping could force the release of political prisoners, including his father.
