John Willie, a shoe shine boy at a busy hotel, struggles to pair shoes, much to his manager's dismay. He's oblivious to Beryl's crush on him until Tonie Forde intervenes. George discovers his singing talent and entertains coworkers with his banjo ukulele. Beryl reveals she can dance, and George helps her develop her skills. They eventually perform for hotel guests, impressing the manager, who introduces them to his friends.
