World War II. Charles Ryder, an up-and-coming artist and Army officer, reminisces about his doomed relationship with the wealthy Flyte family at Brideshead estate. He first met Sebastian Flyte, an eccentric and wealthy friend, at Oxford, where Charles got caught up in Sebastian's family struggles and fell in love with his sister Julia.
