A small-town New Mexico setting is the backdrop for the story of Josh Townsend, a young boy who moves there with his father, Dr. Nick Townsend, a celebrated astrophysics expert.

Josh Townsend, a schoolboy, moves to a small town in New Mexico with his father, Dr. Nick Townsend, an astrophysics researcher. Josh becomes involved with the local buffalo reserve, working with Thomas, a cynical grandson of Navajo clan elder John Blackhorse, and his friend Moon. However, Josh's desire to fit in with the local cool kids, led by Kyle, leads him to betray the trust of his new buffalo friends.
