Captain Boycott background

Captain Boycott

The Irish peasantry, beset by poverty and oppression, launch a rebellion against the British aristocracy, which has exploited their land and resources for centuries.

Fact-based historical drama about the Irish farmer rebellion against the landed and privileged class. In 1880, Irish politician Charles Stewart Parnell urged shunning the landlords rather than killing them. One of the worst landlords, Captain Charles Boycott, charged extortionate rents and forcibly evicted tenants using constabulary force or the army.
